Darci Watson-Rutherford
Litigation Assistant - Clinical Negligence
Friendly and methodical, Darci always approaches every task with bags of enthusiasm. She loves chatting to clients and her inquisitive nature aligns perfectly with her role preparing cases.
After successfully achieving an MLaw degree from Northumbria University, which included completing her LLB, Masters and LPC, Darci is thrilled to be taking a significant step in her legal career by taking on her first legal role.
During her time at University, Darci spent a year working as an advisor in the Student Law office where she helped signpost self-employed people towards grants and financial assistance to cope with the Covid pandemic.
Away from work
Being active plays a big part in Darci’s social life and she enjoys going for walks and participating in sub-cardio workouts at the gym, where she also lifts weights.
Darci frequently spends time socialising with her friends in Newcastle, often going to the cinema, social events and casual drinks. Darci loves spending time with her family and taking leisurely walks with their beloved pet, Milly, a 12-year-old Jack Russell.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
After graduating from University, I spent around 14 weeks in America – working as a Camp Counsellor in a ‘Summer Camp’ on the Appalachian Trail, in Massachusetts, before heading off to visit Boston, Miami, New York and Washington DC. It was a great chance to see some parts of America that you may not normally and I’d love to go back again one day.
What’s your favourite food?
I do love a good burger and chunky fries and would definitely recommend Fat Hippo in Newcastle city centre.
What music do you like – any specific genre or artists?
I love listening to throwback tunes or a bit of pop, especially anything by Dua Lipa.
What film or boxset would you recommend to others?
If you want to watch a series which does not get stuck in the same cycle, I would recommend The Good Place, an American fantasy-comedy which follows who four people struggle to define what “good” is when they are living in the afterlife. With multiple jaw-dropping twists, it is not your typical sitcom.
Do you have a favourite book and why?
My favourite book is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, a novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid about a Hollywood actress and the life she lives, which is loosely based on Elizabeth Taylor.
What is your favourite colour?
Royal blue but I am partial to a bit of red too.
Is there a smartphone App you could not live without?
I’m a massive fan of TikTok and will watch a bit of anything – from funny videos to tutorials, anything that I find enjoyable.
How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Sociable, caring, friendly, funny and hardworking.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
It’s all going to be okay and it will all work out in the end.
