Stephen McCaffery appointment injects fresh energy into experienced Business Law & Commercial Property Department

LONGDEN, Walker & Renney is thrilled to welcome solicitor Stephen McCaffery to our Business Law & Commercial Property team as we look to blend youthful energy with seasoned expertise to better serve our clients.

A graduate of the University of Sunderland, Stephen earned his Masters in Law and Legal Practice Course (LPC) in 2017 and has already amassed an excellent range of experience.

The 33-year-old began his career in the Commercial Property department of a prominent Newcastle law firm, where he transitioned to the role of Paralegal before gaining invaluable knowledge at two other law firms in the North East.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 2021, Stephen’s most recent position allowed him to further hone his expertise in Commercial Property law by serving as in-house counsel for an online bank.

Stephen’s return to client-facing work will initially see him work alongside the vastly-experienced Ken Stenger and Keith Lewis, who have over 100 years of combined experience, in our Commercial Property Department. He is also looking forward to building relationships with clients from across the local business community.

Stephen said: “My goal is to collaborate closely with Ken and Keith to quickly familiarise myself with our existing clients and then work on expanding our portfolio. Both bring a wealth of experience, and I am looking forward to learning from them and gaining some valuable insights.

“I believe there is a natural synergy between Business Law and Commercial Property, I’m excited to return to client-facing work and I appreciate the opportunity to foster strong client relationships while hopefully tackling a variety of cases.”

Stephen’s appointment will add fresh energy to our well-established department, which offers clients a wealth of expertise across Business Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Partnership Law and Shareholder Agreements.

Welcoming his arrival, Managing Director Neil Heavisides said: “We have taken great care and a lot of time searching for the right lawyer to bring in to this role, and Stephen certainly ticks all the boxes. His enthusiasm, dedication and breadth of experience make him a perfect fit for our team.

“Stephen’s knowledge of private practice and in-house counsel gives him a well-rounded perspective that will be of great benefit to us. He is a welcome addition to the Longdens family, and I know he will foster strong relationships with our clients and look after them very well.”
