Key senior appointment as Alixandra is promoted to lead Clinical Negligence department

LONGDEN, Walker & Renney has appointed a new Head of Clinical Negligence as part of a long-term strategy to ensure we can continue to provide competitive access to justice in a world of increased fixed legal costs.

Alixandra Cadden-Young, who qualified as a solicitor in 2013, will take on the role after proving her track record for leading successful high-value personal injury and clinical negligence cases for more than a decade.

Having studied Adult Nursing at the University of East Anglia, Alixandra spent three years working in NHS hospitals and wards before changing careers to become a solicitor.

Alixandra spent two years working for a multi-national Defendant firm before joining us in 2015 to focus on Claimant work. Extremely knowledgeable about clinical care practices, she regularly draws upon her nursing experience to scrutinise the circumstances our clients have encountered.

Alixandra will work closely with our experienced Clinical Negligence solicitors to ensure cases are run at maximum efficiency, to continue delivering excellent outcomes for our clients in an era of new Fixed Recoverable Costs.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to driving the department forward,” said Alixandra.

“My role is to focus on attracting high-quality cases and supporting all our clients, who are seeking justice in a difficult new environment of Fixed Recoverable Costs.

“We need to work as efficiently as possible and adapt to the new FRC challenges, but we have got a very experienced team and I am confident we will continue to offer our clients the highest-level of service.”

Managing Director Neil Heavisides, who is handing over the departmental reigns, is confident the well-deserved promotion will enhance and strengthen our reputation as one of the largest Clinical Negligence practices in the North of England with approval to handle Legal Aid cases.

He said: “This move reflects Alixandra’s vast knowledge and undoubted expertise in the field, as well as her ability to oversee the team whilst still running her own caseload.

“Alixandra’s promotion is 100 per cent aligned with our growth ambitions and will enable me to focus more on overall practice management, development and our long-term business strategy.”
