Could you help St Benedict’s Hospice by making or updating a Will?

WE are delighted to be marking ‘Make a Will Month’ by offering a Will writing service to anyone who would like to support the work of St Benedict’s Hospice in Sunderland.

The assistance will be available throughout October to encourage more people to take care of their affairs and for those individuals who are considering making a gift to the charity.

Laura Brydon, Head of our Wills, Trusts and Probate Department, is a Member of the Board of Trustees at St Benedict’s Hospice and we have proudly supported the charity for a number of years.

Established in 1984, the Hospice provides free specialist palliative care to the people of Sunderland and surrounding districts. In recent years, their excellent work has grown to include day care, out-patients, care in the home, hospitals, care homes and in-patient beds.

Care is provided by the NHS as part of South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust and supported by the St Benedict’s Hospice Charity.

To support the personalised service they offer to patients, their family and carers, we are giving you the opportunity to make or update a Will for a suggested donation of £75.00 for a single simple Will or £100.00 for joint simple Wills. You can ensure the people you care about are provided for in the way you wish.

If, after the initial meeting, it appears that your Will will be more complicated (e.g. Inheritance Tax saving measures or a Trust is required) we will agree a fee with you before proceeding further.

Although we usually charge £151.00 (+VAT) for a single Will and £243.00 (+VAT) for joint Wills, we do not make any deductions from donations that are made for Wills drawn up during ‘Make A Will Month’ as part of our Community Pledge – with 100% of the donations going to the charity

Speaking about the fund-raising initiative, Laura said: “Making a Will is beneficial at any stage of life, particularly after getting married, buying a property or having a family as these changes will directly affect your Estate.

“It’s the best way to ensure your final wishes are granted and often provides people with peace of mind, knowing their loved ones will be protected in the future.

“By taking part in Make A Will Month you can gain that reassurance whilst helping St Benedict’s Hospice provide the very best care and support for those who need it most.

“If you have already made a Will, you may wish to make an addition to it or add a gift to St Benedict’s so you can help leave a lasting legacy in your memory. Just let us know how we can help and we’ll be happy to help fulfil your wishes.”
