Manage your personal affairs and make a Charity donation with Will Aid 2022
Appointments can now be made with our Solicitors, who are again waiving their fees for writing a basic Will as part of our participation in this year’s Will Aid charity initiative.
A special partnership between the legal profession and nine of the UK’s best-loved charities, Will Aid allows clients to make a suggested donation in return for basic Wills.
The charity scheme takes place throughout November and sees our Wills, Trusts and Probate Department volunteer their time and waive their fees.
Whilst we usually charge £151.00 (+VAT) for a single Will and £243.00 (+VAT) for joint Wills, Will Aid suggests a donation of £100.00 for a single basic Will and £180.00 for a pair of basic ‘mirror’ Wills during Will Aid month.
Participants are able to donate more, if they wish, and 100% of the donation goes to the charities. Only disbursements in respect of Online ID Checks (£5.34 per person) and HM Land Registry Office Copies (£3.00 per property) are payable to us.
If it appears that your Will could be more complicated (e.g. If a Trust is required or for Inheritance Tax saving measures) we will agree any additional fees with you before proceeding further.
Laura Brydon, Head of our Wills, Trusts and Probate Department, enjoys being part of the annual initiative because of its rewarding nature and the benefits it brings to the charities and clients alike.
“Not only is Will Aid an excellent way to do something good for charity, it gives us the opportunity to help people take control of their personal affairs,” explained Laura.
“They receive a professionally drafted Will and complete peace of mind, while the Charities receive much-needed donations to help continue their vital work.”
“Will Aid is a fantastic programme that we proudly support ever year. It gives us a great opportunity to meet new clients who might otherwise have been reluctant to get in touch and make Wills.”
“To make people feel at ease with the whole Will writing process, we always adopt a friendly and personal approach. We find this is greatly appreciated and people often come back to us later on for other important Estate Planning services, such as Trusts or Lasting Powers of Attorney.”
The Charities that benefit from the Will Aid donations are Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save The Children, SCIAF, Sightsavers, Trocaire and Action Aid.
