Himat studied law at Northumbria University and then went on to qualify as a solicitor in 2014, working for a firm in the West Midlands specialising in criminal law. He developed valuable advocacy skills and experience defending clients at Magistrates Court and Crown Court on a wide variety of matters ranging from simple thefts to multi million pound frauds and murders and providing representation at the police station. In 2014 Himat relocated to the North East with a view to expanding his litigation skills in the field of personal injury law, working in Newcastle upon Tyne for law firms specialising in industrial disease and disputed road traffic accident cases.
Himat has a special interest in medical negligence law and was delighted to join the Clinical Negligence Department at Longden Walker and Renney, when the opportunity arose in 2016. He has built up a case load of various clinical negligence cases which he manages under the supervision of directors within the department. He finds the work within clinical negligence to be very interesting and rewarding.
Himat speaks fluent Punjabi and basic Urdu and Hindi. He has a keen interest in sports, having previously studied Sports Science. He is a huge football fan and in his spare time enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym, playing football and golf.
