Further success in Clinical Negligence
The national reputation of Longden Walker & Renney continues to grow, with partner Neil Heavisides having successfully concluded a difficult case against East Kent Hospitals for Mrs D. who lives in Kent.
She had been admitted to Hospital in November 2006 with a history of pain at the back of her head, blurred vision and vomiting. Despite her having been an in-patient for almost 2 weeks, undergoing numerous tests, the doctors failed to pick up the obvious tell-tale signs that she was suffering from a condition known as benign intracranial hypertension.
By the time they identified the problem and transferred her to a more suitable Hospital for treatment, she had suffered irreversible significant vision loss. She has since been registered blind. She previously worked as a Bus Driver and as CCTV Operative but was unable to return to doing either type of work and her future working prospects were severely restricted. The case was contested. Neil fought the case with experts in the fields of neurology, ophthalmology and general medicine before winning the case and later going on to secure damages exceeding £1m.
